Had an early dinner at Akira Back last night prior to going to the Blue Jays game(they got embarrassed by the Dodgers).
This was my first time at Akira Back, my prior impression was that it was more about the hype rather than substance, why I never went before, but since it’s close to the Skydome, decided to check it out.
Turns out, the place is very good. Most of the dishes was from good to very good, although couple off them very too salty, like the Miso Black Cod, great flavour, but salty.
The service was great, no pretentious in the air, maybe because it was still so early.
Two of us had the following:
Tuna pizza
Sashimi sampler
A5 waygu nigiri
Pop and rock roll
Miso black cod
We were sufficiently filled with these.
The cocktails I had was on point, started with the Hanimi (gin based) and finished with their version of an old fashioned.
