Did you harden them off before planting?

It’s sunscald. You need to gradually lengthen their time in full sun over a few days, generally about 5 days or so, increasing the amount of sun by a few hours every day, until they can stay outside all day and show little to no signs of stress. They might be toast or they might recover, only time will tell.

the outdoor ones will bounce back and easily overtake the indoor ones
