Why are you doing it this way? Don’t you just need to boil them briefly and let them cool?

I never heard or thought about making Jam this way, but okay. I will say this OP, that silicone cover you’re using ain’t gonna help you. A large part of the top of the pot is still exposed. Use ping pong balls, foil or plastic.

Hope you are going to consume that right afterwards. It will not be “preserved” or shelf stable.
