The machine is likely 20 years old and be sitting in someone’s garage most of that time. The insides are going to be pretty gross.

Whoa! I actually owned one back home given by a family friend who did maintain it. It is a good little guy but I never quite understood how to open it up to see the inside. It pulled fairly decent shots as good as any thing else I’ve owned it’s just really really noisy

I would buy this for fun for $5 at Goodwill just to see how well it works. I would absolutely not pay anything close $60 for it.

My Dad bought one of these for my Mom back in 2001 or 2002. She has religiously maintained it; it’s in pristine condition, and it still pulls the best shots. They are fantastic machines, but as others have emphasized, they need love and attention.

It’s a Saeco at heart. Does the job.

I have one I was given new. I never used it it’s been in my warehouse since 2004. I’m pretty sure they were 🗑️, I worked at Sbux when I was a kid and I remember people asking about the return policy a ton.

I had a similar machine (Saeco via Venezia). Basket was a slightly unusual size but with a naked portafilter, Breville steam wand, and temperature surfing you could get decent drinks. Boiler’s pretty small. PID kits available. Maybe worth it if it’s in good condition and you’re starting out.

Great opportunity if you’d like to learn how it actually works. Take it down to the frame, soak, clean and reassemble.

I had one of these! It was my first espresso machine. Bought it new from a Starbucks back jn the day. They are a rebranded Saeco Aroma. They have a pressurized basket, which you can modify to be unpressurized. It was ok for making lattes for a while. Takes a long time to steam milk, but does a decent job. Definitely not a great machine, but if you’re not too worried about pulling amazing shots it might work for you. If you get it, I recommend tossing a ping pong ball in the water reservoir so you can see the water level more easily.
