Meee! I work from home most days but it’s tough on in-office days as they always have pastries in the staff room.
I have a strict rule with myself that I will only eat what I bring. Doesn’t matter what they are offering that day, the rule is I am not someone who eats office food. I do not entertain the idea at all. This takes away the daily, exhausting decision of: D*o I eat this snack today? Is it worth it? Can I fit it in my macros?*
This might be too extreme for other people, but constantly fighting with myself mentally is not fun.

Cab any of the snacks fit in your diet plan?

Haha ours is similar! I plan out my dad and keep my snacks in my desk to stay out of it. Fridays anything goes, I just got a piece of peanut butter ice cream cake from the freezer!

At least everything’s pre-portioned and there’s fruit available!
But I feel you. My work would always have boxes of Dunkin donuts and buttered popcorn

Damn…no, but I’d like to deal with it

If you really can’t help yourself, make a rule to definitely have a piece of fruit first, and if you are still craving it 20 mins later, take something

UGH yes! We have so many snacks plus vendors brings us chick fil a breakfast sandwiches like three times a week! This job has ruined my waistline…
Fuzzy_Welcome8348
Yup! Donuts, soft pretzels, cookies, chips, cupcakes, fruit salads, white bread loaves, pizza for lunch every friday, etc.

I work from home almost exclusively so no. The odd conference, yes this is a common sight and I pay no attention to the free food.
Feral_Vixen
Yes, but we do deliveries all day so I understand why they provide snacks and gatorade. At least there is fruit there!

Occasionally. I try to sub out something I brought for lunch (like I always have an 100 cal bag of popcorn,) so I’ll skip eating one of my lunch items that day and replace with another.

I work in a bakery…
Cakes, cream cakes, other sweet pastries, rolls and ice cream for free during working hours. Plus coffee (cappuccino, latte macchiato with or without syrup, etc.) and freshly squeezed orange juice. Plus things that are left over in the evening that you can sometimes take away with you.

I work in a university office where they put out snacks with signs on them that say “Only for Provost Meetings” so the normal admins can’t get our peasant hands on them lol

Food at work is so tricky. I heard on a podcast about a study indicating that 70% of all calories consumed in the workplace are free food. There are some people who get really excited (and motivated) by free food, so it can be a cheap way for companies to improve morale, but it’s also a challenge for people who don’t appreciate the temptation. I have to give your employer kudos for at least trying to include some reasonably healthy options, but I know that even having 150-calorie protein bars and trail mix in your face all the time is a temptation you don’t need.

My work brings donuts in like 3 times a week. I get there about 10 minutes early to get my coffee and I avoid it until lunch time when I know they’ll be gone. But don’t make it a thing either. If you have a craving or it looks good, have some. Just have half of a quarter of it. You got this!

The Wendy’s I work at is way worse…

I see fruit. That’s what I’d be eating.

I feel like there’s a big difference between unchanging snacks and once in a rare while snacks. People have brought in donuts twice in the last month and it was harder to ignore. Plus, hot and fresh. When I worked jobs where it was constantly stocked I had some my first few days then quit. It was easy to say I’ll have it tomorrow if I still want it.
That said, I couldn’t work in a nice bakery, deal with pastries in the lunch room, or resist the Friday pizza.

I worked at a startup that had like 10x this many snacks, including beverages, syrups for coffee, and alcoholic beverages, and you could also make special requests. Plus free lunch everyday. Basically they didn’t want you to leave the office.
I gained a few LBs while working there. It helped that I rode my bike to work a lot.
