Pit boss mods..

This almost should be a sticky…. seen sooo many posts asking about if the auger motor should be loose.

The auger motor comes loose but other manufacturers like GMG mount them solid. If yours is floppy you will benefit greatly from an auger brace… much more positive pellet flow..

Older pitboss ( I think on the newer ones they have fixed this ) the heat shield/drip tray is oval.. but on the higher side the piece it sits on is flat… heat flows straight up directly into the temp sensor…. this results in lower actual cook temp and bigger temp swings… the end gap mod is a metal plate that fills the space..

There is no heat diffuser on the pit boss the fire box is open right to the drip tray.. it creates a very hot spot in the middle of the grill.. some sort of fire box cover or diffuser… helps even out the temp.. this helps overall cooker temp and temp swings as well..

If these 3 mods are done.. the pitboss are very nice machines.. at a budget price
