I dont believe there is a wrong way to cook spam. Looks delicious! I love it crispy on the outside- difficult to cut with a fork crispy.

I use a mandoline to slice extra thin then fried crispy like bacon.

Honestly that’s the best way to have it imo, grilled or otherwise.

    Toasty outside, soft inside

Can’t see why you wouldn’t fry it with the egg.

I go until it starts to brown/blacken a bit.

  6. HardLithobrake

You say that, but it doesn’t look like the spam has been browned at all.

A little lacking on the nori, but this looks great!

  8. This reminds me that I have a can from 2019 somewhere.

I usually make bbq spam that was cubed and fried and then tossed in a Korean bbq ketchup mixture. Sweet soy sauce and rich wit cabbage salad but I would try this. I just saw a video of someone slicing them insanely thin and frying till crispy and it looks similar to this. Looks good

“toast the soul out of that meat” made me giggle out loud haha 😂

Edit: the dish looks good btw 😋

This is pretty close to r/whitehousedinners material; maybe if you added some garnish to the plate.

  12. This looks like a normal breakfast in Hawaii.

Joke’s on you, normal people don’t cook spam! That’s the devils meat

Nice Hawaii style breakfast! Grew up on that and still eat it today albeit thicker cut slices

  15. danfish_77

I like a hard fry but I cut thicker pieces so it’s still a bit soft

If you like this you’ll love spam musubi

  17. ex-farm-grrrl

I love it when it’s crispy. This looks pretty good despite lack of seasoning on the egg/rice

They make maple spam now which, as a Canadian, delighted my soul. It gets nice and caramelized when you fry it up
