My contractor is building my outdoor kitchen and we didn’t account for the grease escape and grease bucket. We are about an inch or two over what my Traeger needs to be to be built in. Does anyone see any issue trimming the grease escape in half to make it fit? I would then run a tube from the grease escape to a bucket that will be under my Traeger in the outdoor kitchen.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

Have you considered this:[Grease Box](https://pimpmygrill.com/the-grease-box-1/)
Not sure if it could suite your needs instead of trimming the escape.
Can’t see how it’d hurt anything as far as functionality
The longer the run the more likely it is to plug up. So leave it large enough to allow hot air flow.
If you’re going to cut and weld on it why not move the grease escape. I just looked at mine. And I think the drip drain could come out the front. It could certainly come out the end near the front. Or with a little more modification take it straight down through the bottom.
For all of that work it might be easier to buy some more trim and widen the new cabinet.
I don’t see why it would not work, I would recommend something besides tygon tubing, the grease coming out of it will be hot. Otherwise I don’t think you will have a problem. Look at it this way, if it doesn’t work, you gotta buy another trager. I’ve got the silverton, bought it from Costco, the grease trap is on the inside of the cabinet.
However, I really think you will be just fine.
I need to see more pictures of the setup but I wouldn’t put my Traeger in that spot that close to my (presumably) house without more heat protection and ventilation.
Shouldn’t you just make accommodations for it on the cabinet? Wood is far easier to fix/replace than metal on the smoker.
