A neighbor dug up these volunteers for me. Are they too small to put in the ground? Should I transplant them into bigger containers and let them grow before putting in the ground? Thanks y’all, I’ve never dealt with tomatoes this small.

They’re fine to put in the ground as long as you’re past your *last average frost date* for your area. Also check your 10-day forecast to make sure you have no nights below 50° (below 50 won’t kill them but they won’t be happy with it). Try to plant them in an area that gets at minimum 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight a day. If it’s not safe to put them in the ground yet then yes pot them up to larger pots until it’s safe

Let us know what the fruit ends up like. If they came from heirlooms they might still be the same variety. Or maybe it’s a new crossbreed ready to hit the shelves!
