Hey SE friends,

Since most of those who responded were favorable to me occasionally sharing links to new SE articles and recipes, I wanted to direct attention to this new article by coffee expert and writer Ashley Rodriguez. In it, she looks at the science of coffee flavor as it relates to temperature and documents the changes in a cup's quality over time as it sits and cools. It's worth a read!

  1. In my own experience, I notice a sharp drop off in flavor after the first cup. I use a Techniworm coffee maker, grind the beans, and use filtered water. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to finish my first cup and it’s consistently delicious, and each cup from the pot after that tastes a little less awesome. I usually brew 8 cups at a time in the machine.

Love it. Article told me exactly what I expected but with the scientific method.

I definitely vibe with the 30 minute ride. The first sip isn’t to taste, it’s to live. Then 10-15 minutes in it gets to that perfect temp and flavor.

Ahh…I haven’t had coffee in 3 days and I am feeling it.
