I'm looking at diving into getting a pellet smoker grill, just browsing my local Walmart, and I found the Austin XL Onyx edition for $497. It looks pretty nice and more grill than ill probably need. I'm a noob when it comes to smoking and have only used gas or charcoal grills in the past.
My friend recommended that I get a smoker & grill combo like the Pit Boss Pro. He mentioned that if I planned on doing any type of BBQ like Hamburgers, hot dogs a traditional pellet grill-smoker takes much longer.
My follow up question to that, is…does the " Frame broiler technology" that Pitboss advertises on the Austin XL work well enough to BBQ on ? My understanding is that it's a slit door that opens to allow the flame to come through for searing? Or would I be better off with the Pit Boss Pro with the combo pellet and gas?
