You know this sub is cooked when not even a Langer’s 19 is safe from the bitch and moan squad. You guys know a subway footlong is like $18 now?

Best pastrami on rye in the world. Perfect order for two to share: one #19, bowl of matzoh ball soup and an order of fries.

  3. That’s nothing I went to Katz in New York and the sandwich was $30

Just tried it after living in LA for ten years. Easily the best pastrami i’ve ever had and easily one of the best sandwhiches i’ve ever had. To me its worth the $24 lol

Secret life hack is to order it on uber eats when they give you half off deals

I don’t even care so much about the price. The reason I only go once every 5 years or so is because of the shitty location & terrible hours but goddamnit it’s the best fucking pastrami I’ve ever had anywhere to this day.

I saw Bill Clinton there. Crazy to see him in MacArthur Park lol

Good pastrami is an art form. Takes weeks to make, that’s why it’s pricy. Even if you go to the market and get a pound of pastrami, it’s about $20.

I wandered in there about 15 years ago, and it was $17 or $18 at the time. I had an unpaid internship in the cement building and left right when I saw the prices.

I would have sucked it up if I knew it was famous. I haven’t been to MacArthur park in about 10 years so I still haven’t been.

I went to Yoshinoya next door and had one of the worst meals of my life. A homeless person that I thought smelled like moldy towels was sitting next to me, and I realized 30 seconds after they left that it was my food. Needless to say I have regrets not going to Langers.

    Looks really yummy !!!! 🥙🥪🇬🇸

Prices like this are why famed places like Langers will probably be forced out of business. I’m all for small businesses and understand they need to match the market, but the average person simply put can’t afford to eat out like they once did if the prices are going to be landing where they are.

Is it significantly better than Canter’s? I’ve often heard the two come up in LA deli discussions, but I went to Canter’s for the first time this past year and it was worse than mediocre so I’m hoping the two are not comparable.

With tip that’s a $29 sammich. Nope, not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent.

The pastrami sandwich at Brent’s is the 2nd best in LA if you’re in the Valley or Westlake Village. Plus you get fries with the meal.

I went to The Hat last week – $13 and it had twice as much meat as that!

The price is high but a run of the mill boars head pastrami sandwich at most delis I’ve been to are $15 or more now. There’s a place near me that sells a similar style pastrami and it’s $20 now.

Considering how expensive eating out has gotten, $24 sounds down-right reasonable compared to whatever it cost the time I tried (and absolutely loved) it.

It takes a long time to brine the brisket, takes long to smoke the pastrami, takes more time to smoke it twice like Langers does. Absolutely worth the price given the price of beef and the time it takes to reach the perfection that is their pastrami. I have mine on toasted rye, mustard only. Extra pickles. Heaven

  19. LavaPoppyJax

No slaw on sandwiches for me. I like straight up pastrami or corned beef.

  20. RingPopEnthusiast

Definitely a rip off. If that is one half of a sandwich it should be priced at $15 + a tip. There is barely any pastrami on it.

  21. rye_parian

Somehow still easily worth $24. Inelastic demand.

I grew up 2 blocks from there and I’d rather go to Rick’s, next to the freeway in Griffith Park.

  23. Wow, I haven’t been to Langers in about 5 years. I didn’t realize the sandwich was that much now. Crazy.

  24. elboogie7

I’d be furious about the price if it weren’t just so darn perfect.

  25. froggystyle66

I legit think the pastrami at papas meat and seafood in Burbank is shockingly better than this legendary sandwich.

  26. darthbator

This is probably the best deli sandwich outside NYC

  27. jetlife87

Portions down prices up.. I’m good.. I came back from a vacay trip to NYC. Night and day when it comes to portions of food lol

First time at langers was like 17 years ago. Meeting a friend and didn’t know about this place yet. Half way through the sandwich I was like… “this is a really good sandwich. Where are we?” Loved it ever since and take as many new people there that I can.
