so a very prolific food writer recently wrote in their newsletter that this year is the year of the plate and I honestly believe them I think we will see cool people becoming plate people but um you will have to pry the bowl out of my cold dead fingers and there are many reasons to love the bowl the bowl is a classic I mean first I’ve always been a spoon forward food kind of person second I cannot tell you the last time I sat on my couch and really internalized eating something off of a plate maybe it’s a balance issue for me but the third reason to love the bowl is that I’m f finally in My Soup phase I checked last year I made like no soups and this technically is not a soup this is a slop semantics uh but the idea was like okay what if I use a miso broth as the broth for risotto but instead of a boreo rice I used sushi rice and instead of white wine I used rice wine vinegar like you see the swaps and I know I’ve made kanji on here before so it was kind of like Italian method Japanese ingredients conji energy which is definitely a bowl food I can’t believe I just did a full video on bowls I’ll eat this off a plate if I have to

Soup is awsome, plate year is failed wish
You should try making potato leak soup! It's really good, but you have to blend it with an immersion blender, and put chopped bacon in it. It's my absolute favorite soup, and my comfort food
I refuse plates. I'm a bowl and spoon girl. I need walls to help scoop my food lol
I wil say this. I hate bowls for eathing anything soupy, brothy. Because it is dificult to hold it when it is hot. While soup plate is easy to hold because it has a wide rim. Soup plate is much more practical…. and overserving i less of an issue
Bowls are superior. Period.
BOWLS. The greatest accomplishment of my moving out of my parents was realizing they are the superior dish to eat most things from.
And I’m the one who prefers a chopping board! Hello, I exist!
I love the bowl but a happy compromise is I've started using recently are plates that have a deeeeeep edge so they can handle conjee/stew/dal type foods just like a bowl.
This reminds me that last year I made an amazing leak soup
…do people hate bowls? Is that a thing?
I dont fuck with plates bro i HAATTE plates
Okay, i love food, but to claim a year of a certain type of dishware just sounds effing retarded to me dude. Like I'm sooo not even sorry for saying that. I agree bowls are amazing, plates totally have their place, sure, but im a bowl girlie too. I just had two bowls of noodles for my dinner last night. Bowls are just their own amazing thing. There's too many things that are nearly impossible to eat from plates to be like, "oh, 2024 is the year of the plate!" 🙄 How dumb are these people? Sounds like some crap Ina garten would say 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I LOVE THE BOWL
I'm definitely a bowl + spoon person!
Hate soup love a bowl!
Your knife technique is amazing! Wish I had your skill!
As long as we never go back to the era of random slabs instead of plates
Bowls are everything. I only enjoy small plates, and I have to use them only at a table. Bowls, that’s the do all be all man
Eating with a spoon means getting all the sauce. The bowl makes sense so you don't have to chase the goodness.
The things people think about 😅
This is what I really think fusion is. Asian ingredients prepared in an italian way.
plates are terrifying, bowls you know they’ll never let you down or let your food onto the floor
bowls are my favorite! I also feel the same about plates; I don't trust myself to always use a plate for every meal (especially in the living room) but I can trust myself with a bowl.
I absolutely love bowl and spoon food. That looks yummy af
Oh that looks so great
My favorite plates are the ones that are basically just bowls
Cool recipe! Just one thing… congee is a Chinese term, not Japanese. Ofc Japanese people eat rice porridge too, but you’re mixing notions a bit too much.
