So I was gifted an Anova 3.0 precision cooker. I’ve had a the food saver vacuum saver for quite some time.and for how long I’ve had it I haven’t used it much.

My question is for anyone familiar with the top model of food saver vacuum sealer. Is this fine to use or should I just get rid of it and use the Anova brand below?

    If its not broke, don’t replace it. I have the like $80 annova vacuum sealer, it works but its nothing special at all. This model looks nicer than mine

    I had the exact Foodsaver one you have. It broke and I replaced it with the Anova one pictured.  

    That said, I’d keep the Foodsaver and use it until it inevitably breaks.  They kinda make junk, but it’s fine and does the job while it works. The only benefit of the Anova is the double seal and better ergonomics. 

  4. I’ve had a Foodsaver for several years and it’s been solid. I use it at least a couple times a week. It has a catch for liquid so it doesn’t get sucked up and when there is that much liquid I usually double seal it – haven’t had an issue before, but do it just in case. You can stop and seal at any point, manually.

    Keep using the one you have. Just for fun, vacuum seal the Anova and stick it in a closet somewhere as a backup. If a seal or something fails one day on the food saver (and it can), be the hero by breaking out the spare.

    a vacuum sealer is a vacuum sealer…

    I bought a Nutrichef sealer for 60 bucks. Works just fine, it has a plenty of space for liquid to land in a tray during the suction period. It has a raised nipple to prevent liquid getting into the pump.

    I’ve had the nicer food saver for many, many years. It works well. I like that it has the built in roller holder and cutter. Two things I don’t like. One is that the machine needs a break if doing a lot of sealing. It doesn’t tell you but it won’t create enough vacuum. Two is that sometimes the items in the sealed bags occasionally get freezer burned like the seal was not good. I wish it had a double seal like some machines.
