Ate a piece of chocolate cake at a birthday today, went to log an estimate, and I’m shook! Is this a thing??

It is **in** the cake not spread on top. Yes it is a thing. Easy to find recipes online.

Chocolate cake has oil and eggs in it.

    Guess what’s in mayonnaise?

Ha! Yes it makes the cake more moist when mixed in with the batter. Mayo that is, not like italian dressing.

When you make a boxed cake mix, you add eggs and oil. If you mix the eggs and oil by itself, it’s called mayo.

So some recipes have you use mayo when you mix a cake from scratch. Portillo’s (famous restaurant chain in Chicago area) has a ridiculously moist cake made with mayo.

Yep! Mayonnaise is literally just eggs, oil, and acid. Which works perfectly for a chocolate cake.

Wait what? In my country we put mustard in mayonnaise. Surely you wouldn’t want that in a cake?
