This is my first time growing tomatoes, got the baby plants a few weeks ago from a friend of a friend. I don’t know what variety they are, does anyone have any ideas?
And based on that, does this size pot (12”) seem okay? I was planning on transferring them to 16” pots that have a 10 gallon capacity instead of the current 5ish gallons. And maybe staking them.
I also have water soluble miracle gro plant food that I’m planning on using.
Help & suggestions welcome 🙂 Ty

No way to tell what variety it is for weeks, if at all.

5-10 gallon pots are fine. There are 2 basic types of plants: determinate and indeterminate. The determinate type only grows so big and needs a little support – the indeterminate kind will continue to grow and produce fruit for months and months requiring much more support. Really hard to tell which kind until much later. For now either kind wants the same things, lots of sun and deep watering with occasional fertilizer.
