I've searched for best cuban in or around LA and the consensus seems to be Versailles obviously. I went to Miami recently and really enjoyed the cuban dish vaca frita at various restaurants there which is basically a marinated flank steak that's fried and crispy. Versailles version was good and a generous portion but wasn't crispy at all. Was wondering if anyone can recommend a cuban place that has vaca frita that's crispy? Attached are 2 photos, one of Versailles vaca frita and another of a place in miami which seemed to be consistent no matter which restaurant I ordered it at.

It looks like you got the food to go from Versailles and at in restaurant in Miami. How long was the food sitting there before you picked it up? It may have been crispy when it came out but sat in a container. It’s also sitting in a lot of juices.
Lol steak stew. Yea Versailles isn’t very good and Porto’s is not what it used to be. If you’re ever in Santa Clarita try out El Cubano. Good food. Good people.
Yeah the vaca frita from versailes was sitting in too much marinade and was more like a stew lol. Guess I could go and dine in and ask for it to be crispy etc worth a shot. Just wondering if any former miami residents who are now in la think that the cuban food here is lacking? Never was a big fan of portos either, although I can see why it’s popular (great value and options)
