[Music] today we make an Asian Risotto in the microwave ready in 12 minutes right now on cooking with cs hello and welcome to cooking WS my name is Grandpa Wizard and if you’ve been looking for flavor that’ll make your tongue wag in your mouth then this is the show for you now the first time I had risoto was in Florence Italy with Leonardo da Vinci in 1472 Yahoo he was just a young whipper snapper back then and he was trying to get me to help him paint the 16 Chapel because well he was having trouble but because magicians don’t tell their secrets I had to say no okay well we got doc hi everybody my name is Dr Bill Sherwin I’m a doctor of quick and easy meals at your service now wait a minute you had risoto with Leonardo da Vinci yeah just last week magicians can travel backward in time just like anybody else can ah the 16 Chapel was painted by Michelangelo not da Vinci oh that’s right it was Michelangelo that I had risoto with all these Renaissance painters they look Alik to me oh I don’t believe you this sounds like the story you gave us about having lasagna with Julius Caesar that did happen that did happen Julius had a wife that was a better cook than you this risotto that we’re making today is not Italian this is an Asian inspired creamy rice dish and using the microwave this delicious rice is quick and easy so let’s go this Asian bacon risotto will be a fast way to make a side dish or a meal this Roto uses ororo rice which is starchy this risotto also uses bacon that adds to the creaminess I will use beef broth for this because the beef and pork combine well with the soy sauce and sesame seed oil feel free to substitute orange juice for the lemon juice for some variety take one cup of arboro rice and soak in water for 30 minutes [Music] take a 2 and 1/2 qu bowl and add 1 tbsp of sesame oil 1 tbsp of soy sauce 1 tbspoon of minced garlic 1 tbspoon of lemon juice and a pinch of red pepper and give it a stir microwave for 1 minute on high power the oil and soy sauce is now hot so time to mix in the broccoli carrots scallions mushrooms and red pepper then the bacon and the rice and mix well a note about the bacon trim as much fat as you can and rough chop the lean Parts after mixing add two cups of beef bullion cover with plastic wrap and poke holes in the top then microwave on high for 8 [Music] [Laughter] [Music] minutes remove and [Music] stir and back in the oven for 4 [Music] minutes now we add the chopped cilantro and we are [Music] done and here is the finished product fill a small bowl or a glass with the rice and turn it upside down on a plate for a shapely presentation ah here we go this is it and now we taste [Music] this is fabulous it’s a fabulous Asian rice [Music] dish and you know something I’ve never had pizza with anybody famous you know next time I go time traveling that’s the first thing I’m going to do cooking with Cooks is a production of culinary characters of America
