it is 2024 Garden season the garden has been prepped and I have started seeds inside so let’s get looking at what we got cuz we’re going to start planting soon in the Glorious Greenhouse we have some seedlings started over here I have zucchini cucumber broccoli this tomato plant needs to be watered immediately it’s over 100° in here we have a potato Leaf variety of tomato called Brandy Wine tomato and we got celery going in here which I have to space out onions and then we have hot peppers lemon drop Thai Peach dalas for the cut flow Garden more Tomatoes cabbage which we’re going to plant now um and then herbs and then over here we have some more hot peppers herbs and these are Snap Dragons which they’re for the cup flower garden and I’m not sure how I’m going to prune those out but let’s get this Garden going we also have jalapenos on this wall lots of jalapenos lots of tomatoes lots of pepper varieties those are special Tomatoes May I’ll share later the the hybrid that they are don’t know if I want to do that right now okay first row of cabbage is in what I did was every three plants I put a celery I am not entirely convinced that the celery will do well in this soil it’s a little bit on the denser clayy side but there are no real rules to gardening it’s all just experiments and go as high as you can this yeah that’s how you’re supposed to Plato hi guys welcome back to noily Family Farms today I thought it would be well it’s tonight I thought it would be a nice time to give a garden update garden tour for our garden of 2024 so let’s go in take a look around say hi to the old older chickies so coming into the garden uh this area is our blueberries blueberries raspberries and two other blueberries the ones that I got at the Amish auction um this area will eventually be kind of filled in with a net so that the berries don’t get attacked by birds um our first row here is cabbage companion planted with celery and I actually just noticed this yesterday but I have a celery plant that I transplanted and actually a tomato plant is growing alongside it so they’re just trying kind of growing as one so we’ll see how that turns out I’m not going to mess with it but yeah we have our cabbage here um the nice thing about our climate is that it’s actually pretty cool in the summer um we do get some hot spells but um these cabbages should be okay they actually doing really well then over here we have a row of random lettuce I didn’t come in and call it um I’m just going to let it do its thing for Endless salads and then we start with the tomato plants so this tomato plant well these five these are a type of potato Leaf variant Tomatoes they are called actually Brandy Wine tomatoes so they’re going to give us really big up to one PB Tomatoes um they are actually doing they’re growing fairly rapidly um we started these in seed in the greenhouse so I’m pretty pleased with how they’re turning out so we have one two three four five this one gu is kind of lagging then I have two special tomato plants which I’m not going to say right now I’m going to see how they turn out they’re special cultivar um that’s new I haven’t grown them before so if you’re interested definitely follow along um on our journey and then I’ll possibly uh show the fruits later on and then we have another row of tomatoes um cherries and um Roma tomatoes um I did plant all of these tomatoes with the egg trick so I cracked an egg in almost all of them and I am actually seeing really good growth so I think that might actually help so then we’re going on to the walkway over here this is the walkway from the greenhouse to well the main Garden but also over here we just built this new chicken coup so if you guys have been following us we had 10 chickens to start with last year then we got night Swedish chickens and six other Swedish chickens so in total we have 35 chickens so we needed a bigger CPE so this CP we just finished building um we still need to add a finishing touches on it but we will have a full video coming up soon if you guys want to see this please be sure to subscribe to our Channel and hit the bell for updates um so this is actually a litter shoot so instead of cleaning out the chicken C with a wheelbarrow will just be able to open this and Chuck the litter the used litter into the garden so it can compost um there will be a automatic chicken door that comes out to the Run we have our Ducks next door um and then we have our older chickens which we will eventually integrate in here and that will kind of become like a nursery for hatching chicks or maybe an infirmary just a second backup poop maybe we get guies I don’t know um but I do love this design that Hank um thought of all by himself so please be sure to subscribe to see this upcoming video um it’s going to be a full buildout video so back on the garden I actually started zucchini in the greenhouse which it’s not really recommended to start zucchini indoors uh it’s pretty much easy to D REO cuz Zu Kini is so great so um some of them are doing well some of them are not doing well so I did plant a few backups here a couple like maybe a week ago it’s like a week old um but the other ones are doing they’re starting to kick off they have a lot of new growth we even have flowers on this one so you know zucchini you’re just going to get endless zucchini in the summer and then next to the zucchinis are our pepper plants so this is a variety of red green sweet peppers um I have well I bought six varieties of hot peppers um some of them are lagging in the greenhouse this is one and I’m talking like hot Scoville units Peppers which I don’t even eat I just like to grow them so if you’re interested maybe I’ll do a video of me eating them what is this one [Applause] this is a sugar rush stripey um bought the seeds i b the seeds on Etsy um then in the next row we have our onions which and over here we have our Bush string beans which I will plant another row here two rows here soon so they’re staggered um over hereu um I tried to PL from celery didn’t really work out too well um and then I have more tomatoes and peppers here there are so many buddies is that why you’re upset um we got our asparagus patch here so this is the second year we have it going look at this thing I’m 5’9 by the way look how tall this is it’s almost 59 so this is our second year so we are we didn’t Harvest any of the spears we’re letting them seed themselves again so looks promising and then our final section in the garden is um potatoes my neighbor was gracious enough to share her seed potatoes with us so between her and I us we should have enough to last us all winter um this will be a great addition um in the winter to our Root Cellar you can see that they’re starting to really pop up here these are jalapenos these two are jalapenos I know for sure um extra Cherry extra Aroma and then um I’m leaving the space open for potentially something else late fall crops um I didn’t want to overcrowd the Garden um trying to maximize efficiency here but the beans are are doing they’re looking better than last year our daughter loves to eat string beans so she’ll be out here helping pick the beans and then we’re going to head to the raised beds that Hank made out of some live egg Lumber we picked up at the Amish auction as well um so here we have two great plants um and in between that we have a old Century spinach with some basil planted in the front these the next bed over is my strawberry patch I meant to get more strawberries um it’s on the list and then I have spinach growing in this section um which will be great for smoothies can freeze spinach and then at last the garden trellis which I think turned out amazing we have our cucumbers so what we did was we planted three cucumbers on each side as you can tell they are making their way they’re finding their way up the lattice and I wanted to point out that this is stretch great and someone mentioned in a comment on Instagram like hey that might get too hot in the summer I don’t think it’s going to get too hot we don’t live uh somewhere that gets super hot um so we’ll see how it works I don’t think it’ll be a problem and then actually in front of the Cucumbers I companion planted um broccoli so cucumbers are going to provide a lot of shade especially cuz they’re on the trell so I think the broccoli is going to do well here it looks very healthy it looks very green so I’m pretty pleased with how that is turning out and I can’t wait to see this Trail is full of cucumbers that we will use to make pickles and can so now we’re going to head into the green house the time of night come in come in Chevy we have the lights going it’s just a vibe in here it’s about what time is it it’s almost 9:00 so it’s definitely a summer night the temperature is currently 75 75 yeah we have the doors open we have the windows open on this side um and then we have kind of backup plants plants that are lagging that I want to get into the garden but I don’t know when more hot peppers which are lagging backup um tomatoes more Dill which will go out soon Hank opened a lemon from the store and planted all the seeds from the lemon and they actually germinated um we have what this is cantaloupe cantaloupe seeds that came from the store as well and then over here we have our herbs we want to get the bubble buckets going soon everything is from seed here the basil parsley the dill got oregano and then a couple more hot peppers these are this is the Sugar Rush stripy Oh those are the same ones that’s in the garden so we’ll see maybe that’s the only ones I could get to germinate and I think that’s it so it’s time to close up for the night if you guys like the video please hit the thumbs up please leave a comment if you have any questions or if you just want to say good job guys we can’t wait to see the Harvest um thanks for watching and be sure to look out for that chicken coup video very soon
