I approve of the pan toasted bread, I think the flavor from the browned butter takes a sandwich up a notch. During tomato season when I eventually get my fill of BLTs, tuna melts with thick slices of heirloom tomatoes toasted in a pan are my second favorite way to deal with the bounty.

Are the onions pickled or do you just add them raw?
I’ve made this by quick-pickling the onions first and it adds gives it a nice hint of sourness to go with the rest.

Is that albacore tuna? I always use solid white albacore tuna, add mayo (kewpie is my favourite), dill pickle relish, celery and green onion and a little salt and pepper. I love tuna salad! Edit: I see the last picture now, it does look like albacore and very similar to my recipe, dill or sweet pickles?
