Has anyone ever tried these? I’m new to espresso and I’m out of beans. I got my first batch from a local roaster (it was gifted). But living in East Texas (Whitehouse) I don’t really have a lot of choices locally.

I looked at the roast date for the Partners ones and it says 4/11/2024 – the rest didn’t really have that printed anywhere. Just an expiration date for next year in October.

  1. Partners is great coffee. My problem with world market is that the roast dates are pretty far back. I would be mindful of that

I see those kinda cool flavors when I go there and think ‘well that sounds interesting. maybe’ but its always just a maybe because I like coffee not cookies n cream and I rationalize myself away from buying them. Something about seeing an overly processed food, some sprayed on flavor to coffee, makes me think im gonna have the off flavor in my grinder for eternity. All I want is coffee flavor.

As you may know, there’s always purchasing through the mail, which can be very successful. Including via mega-sources like, dare I say it, Amazon.

What a shame. A couple of those are good roasters. But as you’ve seen, grocery stores stock coffee way past when the beans have peaked (up to a month for the lightest roasts, a week for dark roasts).

If there’s one thing I’ve learned on here and from other espresso aficionados it’s that the roast date matters. 2+ months is too old is my understanding.

Morning Sun and A Love Supreme are two of my all time favorites. I live like 10 minutes from Oly Coffee Roasters though so i get fresh bags from them.

ETA – just fyi, World Market regularly offers a 10%-20% off coupon for online pickup orders

Dark Matter Unicorn Blood is fantastic and one of my favorites. Technically leaning towards dark roast, but it’s bright and sweet in addition to a nice thick syrupy mouthfeel. I find a 1.75 ratio (17g in, 30g out) to be best, but you may want to experiment. I highly recommend it.

  8. Partners’ Flatiron was my go-to for years. It’s very good. Obvi check the roast dates though.

I’m not a fan of those Partners to be honest

  10. If you order online, most roasters will ship it to you fresh, like less than 1 week off roast.

I’ve liked Avoca’s Misty Valley in the past

Unicorn Blood is the best espresso coffee I’ve ever had. Strong and super flavorful. You will not regret it

  13. You might want to try your local Target’s selection as well – Their roast dates are closer to when they are put on shelves.
