My roommate asked if I wanted Mac and cheese today. I was excited to say the least, I love Mac and cheese so when they offered I immediately said yes… At first glance it looks so intimidating. Yes thats right ham in my fucking Mac with bread. I’m a person who trys his best to stay open minded so I was willing to take a bite. HORRIBLE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE 😭 I tried eating around the ham but every bite I took I could taste that meaty ham taste. It’s not that I don’t like ham (I love sandwiches with them) but this was one I just couldn’t handle

“If you added ham to this, it would be more like a British Carbonara”

“If my grandmother had wheels she’d be a bike”

Your bread is certainly unhappy about the whole situation as well!

I don’t get the issue here. Grilled ham and cheese sandwich is great, this isn’t that far out of that realm. People put hot dogs in Mac.

Your roommate is obviously a really good cook and you couldn’t handle his dish? Shame on you!

Ham in Mac and cheese or hot dogs in Mac and cheese is pretty good. There’s also chili Mac. I honestly would happily eat it,I love grilled ham and cheese too.

I’d just be grateful my roommate was kind enough to care about feeding me at all.🥹 What??

  7. Outrageous-Mirror-88

Ah man, at least your roommate was kind enough to think of you and offer food. That’s extremely kind.

Open faced mac and cheese sandwich. Delicious.

So, let’s see one of your dishes then, if you are too good for this food.

Oh noooo… What kind of horrible person just gives someone meaty, cheesy deliciousness? Bastard would probably have the nerve to just give you a cheeseburger too…

I go to a restaurant tat has 6 different kinds of Mac n cheese.

Each one is total bomb, but I guess you’d hate it there.

  12. You did it wrong. The Mac n cheese with the ham is to go on the inside of the bread and closed up like a hot pocket. Extra points if its sealed and browned up in a pan till crispy.

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Ham and chopped up stale bread in Mac and cheese is the best.

This is the reaction your roommate should have gotten 😂 this is also a great time to let your roommate know about your food preferences. Thank them for the thoughtfulness, return the kindness when possible, and you guys will be just fine.

Hell ya. I miss food like this

as a tired mom this looks like a dream meal for myself. idk what it is about cooking nutritious meals all day that when i see shit like this i would absolutely go crazy for it 😭

Thank you. Is the right response. Giving a person food is a way of saying I care about you and want to help you

I always add meat for protein. I also add peas or broccoli for a veg. I don’t get what the problem is other than the gratuitous piece of extra carbs.

Is the hack getting free food and not enjoying it?

  21. highriskric

The ham looks aii but cut up hot dogs or sausage would bring this dish to the next level. Id smash

What’s the issue or hack here? You r/lostredditor ?

  23. yung-chungus

As someone who used to cook for a living I always say the best meal is one I don’t have to make myself.

  24. michjop

Did the roommate take a bite of the bread???

  25. frenchkids

I’ve eaten worse looking food. Someone in this world wishes they had that meal.

  26. ForkingShirtForker

You’re lucky to have a good roommate

Not my top meal personally, but effort and thoughtfulness is always a win. So I would be grateful either way.

There are different tiers of cooking and skill— so what if this is on the basic level? This is certainly edible. Return the favor with whatever your level is and see what they think. You are both bound to get better over time and might even challenge each other to grow in kitchen skills.

I blow my hubs “out of the water” according to him but he puts a lot of effort, looks up recipes, and does his homework when he cooks for us. I don’t turn my nose up and am excited/grateful for the break. He has really been making great meals when he does find his way into the kitchen. The key part is effort. Show a little more grace with your room mate. They tried.
