Old recipe from mid century Good Housekeeping’s Book of Cookies that I love! 🤎💛

CHOCOLATE BANANA DROPS:
makes 60
*2 1/4 cup sifted flour
*2 teaspoons baking powder
*1/4 teaspoon baking soda
*1/2 teaspoon salt
*2/3 cup shortening
*1 cups granulated sugar
*2 eggs (unbeaten)
*1 teaspoons vanilla
*12-ounce packages semi sweet chocolate chips (melted)
*1 cups mashed ripe banana
*additional granulated sugar

Preheat oven to 400. In medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In large bowl, cream together shortening and sugar. Gradually beat in eggs and vanilla. Alternately gradually beat in flour mixture, chocolate, and banana, beating well. Drop by teaspoonsful about 1.5” apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake just until set but not very browned. Remove from sheets and dip tops in plain or colored sugar while warm (I mix red and green at Xmas time) and then place on wire racks just until cooled. Store.
