Virtue signalling đ yeah cause informing someone (who asked) about how incredibly cruel the process of making foie gras is, is censor worthy. Admittedly my additional comment was a lil spicy but I stand by it

Not food as far as decent people are concerned.

Idk if it’s me but it seems like there’s always a mod on Reddit trying to go on a power trip. I don’t see what you did wrong other than voice your opinion?

The large subs are fullllll of mods doing stuff like this

Give people a tiny bit of power in a virtual community and they inevitably will abuse it. I wonder if that might be a problematic human trait in the real world. It would explain a lot about human society.

Why are you posting this on a vegetarian sub?
You evidently care about animal suffering so it makes sense to avoid dairy and eggs as well. Those industries are absolutely horrid, too.

Wtf is “soapboxing”?!

If someone came on this subreddit talking about the glory of meat and how everyoneâs missing out, theyâd get banned too. Youâre free to say what you want, but life has consequences.
starocean2
You get banned for telling the truth? Yup, that sounds about right.
Bellatrix_Rising
Thank you for speaking the truth!!!
noobchee
Fair ban, you’re totally right though

I really donât care what grand traditions of cuisine are involved. Iâd put foie gras up there with clubbing baby seals for fur coats. Itâs cruel, unnecessary and some traditions need to be consigned to the history books.
I get why people eat meat but they could at least try not to torture animals in the process.
Twinkfilla
If it helps- foie gras is banned in Canada because of the cruelty
wololololowolololo
I guess they don’t want any sort of activism? So if your description isn’t objective enough, you’re out.
But foie grass, that’s just horrible stuff. I’m not much of an activist trying to convince others to go vegan and stuff. But if someone talks about foie grass or it’s on a menu, i can’t shut up about it. People are quite easily convinced that it’s not okay, surprisingly easy.
Legitimate_Chain_503
they get so mad when you tell them the truth about what theyâre eating, itâs disgusting. they donât want to hear it & choose to not think about it
strawbebb
Not saying I support the dish, but the ban seems fair. Idk the context of the original post, but your comment basically says you wish anyone who enjoys it to be tortured, killed, and eaten as a dish themselves. So the ban kinda seems fair given the aggression ngl.
Thanatofobia
On a guess, i think that ban was more about that personal comment and less about pointing out the reality of how foie gras is made.
Lots of subreddits tend to be very touchy and quick with the banhammer about people wishing other people harm.
EarthDayYeti
No, you got banned from r/food for blatantly breaking one of the sub’s rules.
Blacktip75
Rightfully banned though, you should not have added the âI hope everyone who supports it gets to experience the processâ.
Yes, it is a ghastly food, still always leave personal insults out of the discussion. This wonât convince people to become vegetarian at all, just makes them dislike vegetarians/vegans.
Esteareal
Why are you being obtuse on purpose? You clearly have been banned for explicitly wishing to harm other people. Idk how you can describe literal death threats as “a little spicy”.
_Baboda_
yeah dude reading that comment you got banned for a fair reason. lmao
Wolfntee
Agree with you, dude, but don’t be the preachy obnoxious vegetarian. Ban was deserved.
thingalinga
Take it as a badge of honor. Eating meat for sustenance is one thing. Can we leave cruelty out of it?
ashareif
Do you eat eggs? Do you consume dairy?
Those industries are just as cruel. Stop it with the double standards.

When when Christians tell people they hope they burn in hell doesn’t usually produce many converts either btw.
