today i’m going to share with you how you can make your own delicious homemade blueberry jam with very little sugar just two ingredients so it’s blueberry picking season again and hubby’s over there sorting blueberries and what i usually do is take the leftover blueberries from the previous year these are frozen and make some blueberry jam this is a very simple two ingredient blueberry jam and i do use cane sugar but a very low amount so i’ll show you how we make it i have 10 cups of frozen blueberries in my stockpot here and i’m going to turn this on a medium heat and we’re going to simmer it for a little longer than normal because we’re going to use less sugar so we want to simmer off some of the water don’t put any water in it the juices will come out on their own and be watery enough so just 10 cups of blueberries medium heat and we’ll let these simmer so once you hear them starting to sizzle i’m gonna give them a little stir i’ll occasionally check on them and stir them around a bit [Music] now once they’re all melted you can see how much juice they actually generated and this is why you don’t need any water to begin with so now we’re just going to turn it back on a low heat and let it simmer for quite a while until it starts to thicken up and once it reduces to about half i’ll let you know how long that’s taken and then we’ll go ahead and add in our sugar so it’s been simmering now for about 45 minutes and it’s thickened up quite a lot and there initially was 10 cups of blueberries and to that i’m going to add one cup of cane sugar and this is plenty for sweet blueberries so one cup of sugar to 10 cups of berries and i’m gonna stir this and let it simmer for about another 15 to 20 minutes now once you get to the last five minutes or so you probably want to stir constantly my husband doing that it’s gonna be his jam and then once it thickens up where it sort of somewhat sticks to the spoon just filling up some there now and let it pour off okay so just a little bit thicker than that and then we’ll be ready to bottle it up okay so now it has thickened up see how nice and thick that is there and it will thicken up even more once it’s cooled so we’re ready to turn off the heat and go ahead and bobble it up [Music] so ten cups of blueberries and one cup of sugar makes a perfect one liter bottle of jam go ahead and put the lid on and wait for it to seal and then we’ll pop it in the fridge so there we have it it was quick and easy to make just 10 cups of blueberries one cup of sugar and we made one liter of homemade delicious blueberry jam
