First time Gardner and I wonder if I picked these too soon. I’ve been watching them closely and both the jalapeños and this bell haven’t changed much in size over the last week or so. The bell is getting lighter and I wanted to keep it as a green bell. I have others on the plant I’m letting go to red.

Did I get over excited and pick them too soon?

They look good to me, have you tried one of the penos yet? Have a nice spicy kick. You can let some jalapeños turn red for a more juicy sweeter spicy pepper.

That’s the great thing about jalapeños. You can pick green anytime and they are wonderful. However those with max patience are rewarded with the glory of ripe reds. Enjoy!

You’re like me, it looks ripe enough, it’s so tempting to pick them, but I’m holding off, just gotta discipline myself, leave it…leave it.

Depends. They are ready to pick if you want them green. I prefer green jalapenos myself. For bell peppers I like them green or fully ripe red, depending on how I’m using them. Stuffed pepper soup, for instance, I need green bells. For a salad? Ripe bells, preferable yellow or orange ones.
