I purchased this Pitboss was able to prime the system and about 20 mins into the initial burn off I got “ERR” on the screen. Any idea what could be wrong? I checked the wires connection and everything was good. Unplugged it and tried again and this time it immediately went to the error code.

We Need Your Help!
We’ve noticed that recent changes in Reddit’s algorithms have made it harder for original content (OC) communities like ours to get the visibility we used to enjoy. This shift means that posts and comments aren’t getting the attention they deserve.
By voting on and commenting on posts, you’re not only helping others but also boosting the visibility of your own posts. Your engagement is crucial, not just for r/PelletGrills, but for all the wonderful niche communities like food, crafts, art, and culture that thrive on original content. Even a simple comment like “This would fit X sub” can make a big difference.
Together, we can support and uplift our entire community. Let’s keep the positive vibes and delicious smoked meat content flowing!

Take it and get your money back
It’s unfortunate being new. But, if I had known how often I’d have to take my Pit Boss apart and work on something I’d have paid the extra for better quality. They are fine when they run right but too much bull to have to do too often. Not sure about what skills you have but they tend to be quite a bit of work that gas and charcoal doesn’t normally require.
The board went bad on mine… they sent me a new one… still haven’t put it on
Man I would just return it. I started smoking meat around 10 years ago with an offset. I use the pellet grill for convenience when I just want good food without the extra work. I’ve went through 4-5 pit boss grills in the last decade trying to save money. They’re not worth it. I bought a camp chef woodwind pro, double the price but more than twice as good in every aspect.
People may hate on it, but I have this one, and it’s amazing, cooked all sorts of stuff on it and it all turned out fine
Sign of many more issues , pit boss is cheap for a reason
I have this exact grill. It is alittle small, but It’s great for my wife and I. I have had it for 2 years and never had any issues. I can’t recommend for a huge family, but perfect for mine. Great for the money
Try Grilla grills. I’ve been very impressed with my chimp
I have seen an increase in “NIB Pit Boss issues” posts in the last while since they changed ownership last year.
I have a 4 yr old Ranch Hand Tailgate model and it is now my camping pellet grill since i bought a bigger unit (Traeger Ironwood 885). It works great and always has.
It makes me wonder if bean counters are trying to save a few cents on electronic parts and it is biting them in the bit now with quality control of the parts as they have been cycled into service.
If i was in your shoes, i would talk to the retailer you purchased it from and see what they can do to help you.
