On the continued hunt for a great Reuben sandwich any where in central Texas. Wish we had more deli options. Stopped by Little Deli for lunch. Got the full size. Plenty of food, and with chips and drink, total was approx $22. Wish the meat was a little warmer for this type of sandwich. Sauerkraut didn’t really taste like anything.

The Harry’s Perfect Pastrami is my favorite sandwich in Austin. Maybe not a classic Reuben, but damn good. I miss Fricano’s who was a little similar to Little Deli but with better bread imo.

Otherside Deli is my go to. Also make it rowdy.

I think Mums Foods does a nice Ruben/pastrami

Look up hoodys in round rock

Excellent sandwiches and have been there since 1989

  6. I think you wasted your time. Go to places that smoke their own pastrami. You can buy that same boar’s head shit at HEB and make a “Little Deli pastrami”. It’s Other Side or Mum’s.

I just ate there a few hours ago. Might’ve crossed paths.

Billy’s on Burnet isn’t fancy but it’s good

Mum’s is absolutely one of the top 3 Reuben sandwiches I’ve had anywhere from NYC to LA and beyond, and expanding that to sandwiches in general

It is Expensive, but amazing. As soon as I finished it, I was already craving it again

Anywhere in Central Texas? The Leaning Pear in Wimberley.

Brotherton’s BBQ in Pflugerville is still my vote for my favorite Rueben, but I’m excited to try Mum’s

Once upon a time, you had Melvin’s Deli Comfort.

Nowadays, your best options are Othersidr Deli and Mum Foods.

Whole Foods does a pretty good one at the deli

If you’re south, try Roses Kitchen. Weird as hell even being on the menu but it’s my favorite near by

I know this sounds off, but the Rueben at the Commons Cafeteria at UT Pickle Research Campus is pretty darn good

Wholly cow burgers makes a pretty mean Reuben sammich, make sure to get the spicy thousand island too

    My tops are
    1. Mum foods (one time it was kinda dry but other times it’s delish)
    2. Little deli (Harry’s pastrami)
    3. Otherside deli

For 4- maybe you can check out pieous, I had it in the past, it was decent)

Scholz Garten has an excellent Reuben.

Big city bagels on Anderson Mill has a pretty good Ruben IMO. Downside is owner is from NY and can come off as rude and they close at 3. But everything I have had there was good.

Big City Bagel on Anderson Mill just off Highway 183 in far Northwest Austin basically on the Cedar Park border. Excellent.

Mum Foods on Manor. Will change your life

  23. paintaquainttaint

NeWorlDeli has a real good Reuben with some options like turkey pastrami. Don’t recall it being particularly cheap though.

HEB Far West. J.J Pickle Research Cafeteria. These are a few of my favorite things.

  25. Rich-Criticism1165

Big City Bagels on Anderson Mill Road. The meat falls apart and the bread is amazing

J&Ls the last Sunday of the month. This is my favorite secret in Austin. They smoke it themselves and make the pastrami themselves.

Hop into the Wayback Machine and visit Melvin’s Deli Comfort, God rest its pastrami soul.

I really really love Swedish Hills…

All y’all talking about pastrami, and I’m glad to hear there are some places that brine and spice and smoke their own here in town, but a proper Reuben uses corned beef. So, my opinion stated, does any place in town make their own corned beef?

  33. choicesthops

Specs ftw. It’s like $8 and great for the price.

Sandwhiches here are crazy expensive. I tried Home Slice Italian which is supposedly the best sandwhich in town. Cost $30 with tip. It was great after I took off 2 lbs of lettuce. But for $30? Probably never get it again.

    Anyway, Specs ftw.

Cork & Barrell in Round Rock has a very solid one

  35. pantherhawk27263

My favorite Reuben was at Live Oak market. Sadly, they are gone.
