I like the idea of a single, multi-purpose unit, but then I worry that it's going to be a mediocre smoker and griddle.

We Need Your Help!
We’ve noticed that recent changes in Reddit’s algorithms have made it harder for original content (OC) communities like ours to get the visibility we used to enjoy. This shift means that posts and comments aren’t getting the attention they deserve.
By voting on and commenting on posts, you’re not only helping others but also boosting the visibility of your own posts. Your engagement is crucial, not just for r/PelletGrills, but for all the wonderful niche communities like food, crafts, art, and culture that thrive on original content. Even a simple comment like “This would fit X sub” can make a big difference.
Together, we can support and uplift our entire community. Let’s keep the positive vibes and delicious smoked meat content flowing!

You can buy a bigger blackstone and a better pellet grill seperate for the same price as this. I really don’t get it

Buy a decent pellet grill and cast iron skillet, it’ll accomplish 98% of what you need.

Avoid combos as they do not age at same rate… Get a standalone Blackstone and a proven pellet smoker/grill

Blackstone isn’t known for pellet grills. Even if somehow both are good (which I doubt) – will you be able to get parts for the pellet grill in a few years?
And sure it’s a smaller footprint over all but it’s one big footprint that is stuck in that arrangement.

I think they’re too expensive for what they are but if it’s what you want, go for it. Contrary to popular opinion on here, the smoker is probably just as good as any other Chinese pellet smoker. I think a fair argument is to buy each item separately but again, if this is what you want and like, go for it.

There is a Lowes discount store by me that has a bunch of these selling as returns….

I can’t think of a time in my life to ever need a flat “grill”

I don’t like combination grills. You’re getting two things that are both smaller than what you would choose if you bought them separately. And you’re paying a premium price to do so.
It’s like going to McDonald’s and getting spending $5 on a Big Mac, $2 for a large Coke and $3 for a large fries. Vs spending $10 for a Big Mac combo that only comes with a medium coke and medium fries.

I absolutely love my Charleston combo.

Once you start combining products you lose features. Don’t do it.

I got one. This is my first pellet smoker and flat top. I have had it for about 2 months. Smoked a brisket, ribs, Boston butt, and chicken. So far so good. The wifi doesn’t work at all so that was a thumbs down. I did get all the accessories I wanted for free because of that though.

Usually with these combo rigs you end up with both sides being too small.

Honest question as someone who has only owned a GMG for about a year: are **Blackstone considered quality?**
I’ve only ever seen their commercials which, tbh, the voice over sounds like every other low quality ‘BUILT IN AMERICA’ product that gets marketed. I want a flat top or something to sear/reverse sear on that isn’t only a pellet grill so looking at options.

Pitboss tried this exact combo and it was trash!

Frankly if I’m going to spend money, I’d prefer a BIFL solution. And while I like Blackstone griddles, that’s their lane.
I found a pellet cooker that sears as well as it smokes, with the durability, retrofit-ability and proven track record that ended up being unparalleled. See [Yoder 640S.](https://yodersmokers.com)

2 great things that don’t go great together. I like the idea of such a thing don’t get me wrong but it’s like a Swiss army knife. Sure it may do a few things pretty good but maybe not as good as a solid pocket knife and a pair of scissors. I personally wouldn’t sacrifice the space you get from either one independently. Flat tops are getting pretty cheap. Use the money on a better pellet grill and get a flat top on sale I can tell you that you won’t be disappointed.
