To be fair, I have always seen those little grills and thought to myself, surely it is just a glorified Panini maker and nothing more. I was so wrong. You can make a steak in this that cooks and tastes amazing. This was a cheap chuck steak I cooked for about 5 1/2 minutes. Sure, it didn't get the best sear in the world but with a good rub and a nice beer on the side, this steak was better than some I've eaten at restaurants (I'm looking at you chilis)

Also foodhack/pro tip, line the drip pan with tin foil for easier cleaning. The second picture is right after cooking and you can see how clean it even after cooking!

Best thing with the George Forman grill you can do. Put it next to your bed, line up your bacon on it the night before, that way you can wake up turn the grill on and go back to sleep for 10 minutes while your bacon cooks. Just make sure not to step on the grill when you leave your bed!

I bet some snobs will turn up their noses at this. Those people have never cooked a pancake in a rice cooker, and they are missing out.

I live in a place that regularly has fire bans in the summer so the Foreman is a great way to get those grill vibes

Ugh the GF Grill just steams the meat because the moisture gets trapped. They’re fine, but not the best way to cook.

Even better – highest heat with a *frozen* 1/2″ thick steak – can get a good sear while still medium rare inside in about 10 minutes … pretty f’n great! make sure to grease/oil the heated surfaces just before applying frozen steak.

I’ve been using a Tefal OptiGrill for years. Streets ahead of the George Forman machines.

Lining the grease tray with foil is so damn genius…..

Just got this same model 2 weeks ago & have used it almost daily for reheating stuff, grilled sammies & cooking burgers. Thanks for the foil lining trick.

There’s a valid reason millions were sold. Chicken breast is great on those

Ah yes, the meat juice drainer. Dry meat all day long.

I used to cook biscuits in mine. It was great when I was making biscuits and gravy for one. Plus, the weight of the lid flattened them like a pancake which really helped with the biscuit to gravy ratio. I’d cook cinnamon rolls the same way. The outside would be nice and crispy but the inside would just melt in your mouth.

My mom had this basically all my life and was the best way to cook steak other than the grill imo

They make an amazing grilled cheese.

When I was a teen and my mom worked late nights. I cooked Brauts for the first time on one of these because I wanted some so bad. They turned out so good, and to be honest no gas or charcoal grill can never replicate the flavor from ol Foreman.

My boss grilled his foot on one of these and then my coworker got a concussion trying to help him. Wouldn’t recommend.
