We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon in a very short time, had to pick up all the bottom tomatoes in order not to split even green ones, very sad year of growing.

The ones with any color should ripen beautifully and be just as tasty as if they were on the vine long enough for birds and squirrels to claim them.

Green fruits rarely split because of rain.
Properly watered fruits, even those almost ripe rarely split from the rain.
Improperly watered fruits in dry soil split because the greedily suck up water because the gardener failed to do their job.

Ahh. I would have left the green ones. I’d rather risk a little zippering than risk them not ripening. The ones that blushed will be great. I have aggressive squirrels that take one bite so always pick when they break

Any time a tomato starts to blush, it’s fine to harvest. They ripen more evenly indoors anyway. Leave the green ones. You’re losing out on potential.

Also, if you have watered very consistently, a period of rain won’t hurt them much. It’s only a concern when it has gone from bone dry and inconsistent watering to way too much water at once.
