Interested to hear what peoples thoughts are on my Kamado Joe Classic 2 I had delivered today. You can see by the pallet that it’s been knocked at some point.

Would you complain or just get on with it? I’m not too worried about the external chip for looks but worried it may be a weak point or allow water to soak into the ceramic base. Is there some sort of paint I could get to put on it? Would Kamado Joe send me some if I spoke to them or am I best just speaking with Marks Electrical where I ordered it from?

The hairline crack in the firebox probably happened in the kiln and goes most of the way round it, probably will have no effect on its use but again interested to hear what people think.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about either of those. They do sell touch-up paint if you want to, well, touch it up. If you contact KJ support they may be willing to send you a bottle free.

The fire ring crack doesn’t look like the sort of thing that’s likely to fail, to me. But it’s covered by the lifetime ceramic warranty, so I’d just use it and check every time you do a deep clean just to make sure it’s not getting any worse.

You can warranty it with pictures. They will probably send you the touch up paint (they did for my Classic 2) and a new ring. I would just use the current ring until the crack is terminal and then use the replacement.

For the money they ask for one KJ i expect the grill to be immaculate.
