I wash this stuff away constantly. I only see it once every few cooks. I keep the grill covered usually.

It’s just grease seeping through the pores of the ceramic. Just clean it with some simple green. No cause for concern. If you ever do a clean burn you’ll see a ton of this come out.

  2. Have you done a ton of pulled pork or the like?

If so, grease. Clean with soap.

But it does mean that your ceramic is loaded with fat and the next high heat burn is gonna smoke like hell. And not the good kind of smoke.

I have to burn off my egg at 800 for a couple of hours to get rid of the fat smoke. Disgusting.

Nah its not mold, you normally get that stuff after not using it for a while during the cold wet weather. I’ve seen it loads, clean burn and your good to go. I’ve never had to do 2 hours at 800, anything live won’t last half an hour at that temp!!! Just clean the outside of your dome, give it a clean burn and it’ll be fine, I’ve not seen smoke come from the outside of my dome either. I’ve had my egg for 12 years, for context.
