Brandywine and Black Prince. I’m in 5b and planted these in mid-May. When should I pick them?
I’ve never grown tomatoes before. My husband was really sick this spring and summer. I coped by planting a bunch of random plants. I would appreciate any and all help!

If you have critters (squirrels, etc) in your garden, I’d pick them now and let them fully ripen in the kitchen.

Edit: because of the cicada invasion, the birds and other animals are extra ravenous so I’m pulling my tomatoes when they blush.

As said above, I’d go ahead and grab it now, especially if you have critters that could munch on it. I bring mine in right when they start to blush and they are usually fully ripened indoors in 2-3 days.
I also feel like getting the big ones like this off the place allows it to focus energy on growing a healthier plant and more tomatoes. That’s a beauty!
I hope your husband is doing much better now.

Go for it! Cause I would leave it “just a little longer” for it to become a critter snack…

I’d pick it now. According to very credible tomato folks, a tomato picked when it’s blushing and ripened on the counter is indistinguishable from a vine ripened tomato. The one thing I’m trying to clarify is – at what stage of blushing is ideal?

I actually never knew this until last year when I became more of a tomato nerd.
