Blender, food processor, or coffee grinder would be my suggestion. Store somewhere cool and dry so humidity and moisture don’t affect it. Vacuum seal if nothing else works.

Shake it … shake it shake it… Shake it… shake it shake it.

I add a small amount of corn starch to my rubs. Prevents clumping

I add some rice to it, don’t fill it up all the way, and then use a shaker so the holes are too small for the rice

Purchase some silica gel packs. It’ll prevent this.

Put it in a blender for a few pulses spread it on a baking sheet and pop it in the oven at 200 for about 15 minutes to draw the humidity out of it. Pulse back in blender a few times again and it should be back to normal. I do this all the time. I buy rub by the 25 pound boxes normally 4 at a time and by the time I get to the last case its pretty clumpy. Put Cellophane under the lid and screw down to prevent moisture from seeping in again.

Grind it if you have a spice grinder or you can put it through a strainer/sieve for the smaller clumps.

You could also probably put in one of those clay brown sugar bears that prevents the brown sugar from clumping.

  9. When this happens to me, I sift it in a fine mesh strainer over a bowl. Tap the side of the strainer with your hand and mix the rub up with a spoon to get all the small stuff in the bowl. Then you’re left with the clumps that were too big. From there, I press on the big clumps with a spoon to break them up and get as much sifted rub into the bowl as I can

Another option is to dehydrate it in the oven on very low temp like 170, spread on a cookie sheet.

Assuming it’s because of the moist brown sugar, just run it through a flour sifter. Never have any clumps after that.

Leave it until it becomes completely solid, and then use it like a glue stick.. or deodorant.. pro tip.. it won’t work well as deodorant
