Is “Philly style” thin-sliced ribeye an acceptable alternative for an Italian Beef?

I’ve actually got the Erie, PA version roasting right now. Up there they call it Ox Roast. I’m using a round roast though, not ribeye.

The beef is not the issue here. Bread is bone dry. I know you plan on dipping it into that tiny bowl of au jus but that thing needs to be soaking brother.

This is a fine meal that will piss off absolutely everyone on both sides

I would say this is much closer to an “Italian Philly” than it is to being a “Philly Italian”

Dumb question: what’s the difference? (I equate an Italian Beef as a hot sliced beef sandwich with the pickled relish & au jus, all of which looks to be accounted for in the pic above.)

This looks *kinda good* but you gotta make those vegetables smaller

Looks amazing – so long that you take it swimming

No and fuck off. There’s the cheesesteak. End of subject!

This is the sandwich you get when you order a cheese steak or an Italian beef and they do it wrong and it is triggering.

OTOH if it were called a French dip or just beef sandwich everyone would be happy.

AFAICT French dip means it is beef and you get a bowl of wet stuff nearby. There are not other critical ingredients.
