That is terrible. What happened? Is that pest damage – maybe stink bugs or similar?

these look salvageable to me. I would cut around the black parts and the rest will be fine.

OP, where do you live? I had 2 really bad years of pepper maggots in central CT. This year has been much better after regular malathion applications. There is hope!
