I just tried eating my home grown Carolina Reaper, spat it out after half a second and drank a third of a gallon of milk and almost wept like a baby. AMA

Do you have any regrets?

At least you tried it. I’m watching my Chocolate 7 Pot plant getting ready to fruit with mixed emotions lol

I’ve been thinly slicing up mine and putting on sandwiches! Delicious and yes, very hot.

Can you compare it to a scorpion for us?

Whole, low fat, or skim milk?
TheZombiestZues
Try cooking with them. Brings out the floral flavor and tones the heat down. I make chili with lime, cilantro and sour cream. All three bring the heat down so it’s edible

Do you have some reading material handy for the inevitable visit of your toilet? You won’t weep if you preoccupy your mind with something else.

I ate a banana pepper from my garden this past weekend and had to lay down. I can’t imagine a reaper.

Sounds about right.
My last fight with a raw superhot left me laying down in my tub sobbing under the shower.

I did the one chip challenge for a free milkshake a few years ago.
No regrets

Respect for trying. I really mean that. I have come to the conclusion, after trying my habaneros, that I will NOT try my Carolina reapers. Hell no. I mean, they look like: don’t eat me bro, just look at how evil I look. But after the cute red little chubby habanero burnt my tongue for almost half an hour, while drinking milk, always coming back when the milk fades, imagining this just 10 times stronger – nope. I definitely am not prepared for that.

I promise the second one isn’t as bad. Don’t eat it. Do a sliver. Then do another. You build a tolerance to capa..

How do i dry it without pepper spraying my apartment

That’s ok. Most people just don’t have a very high tolerance for pain these days.

If you have harvested Carolina Reapers, ferment them and make you a homemade hot sauce.

Do you wash your hands before you go to the toilet?

I see that you’ve asked a bunch of folks about ways to use these peppers. Personally, I find the taste of Reapers to be sort of tannic, almost chemical, bitter even. I’ve tried them in chili but i think the best thing I’ve made with mine are sweet-based sauces. I recently made a strawberry + reaper sauce that turned out really great, the sugar cuts through the harsher sides of the peppers’ chemical flavors and brings out the best of the heat and florals.

I made a paste of pure Carolina reaper and not sure what was wrong with my reapers but it was quite disappointing, it didn’t give me a hot sensation, was still painful but more like chewing needles and gave me the worst stomach cramps I’ve ever experienced, won’t be growing them again.

The superhots are too hot for me. I will dry and blend a couple with cayenne, thai and scotch bonnet, but I can’t take them on their own.

They’re not for everyone lol
internetonsetadd
Too hot for anything other than small pieces. I sliced a BRMX Mustard into a green curry the other day, but I’m not chowing down on Reapers any time soon.

Milk does not work. Swish olive oil or another cooking oil around the mouth lol

Did you prepare by putting some loo roll in the freezer?

It seems like the peppers are hotter this year. Zone 7a/b ( Nashville, Tennessee). What I have got so far has been mouth numbing goodness. Habs, ghost, Thai, cayenne peppers. They are some SOB’s! Usually I can go out eat a couple habs or cayenne peppers and follow up with some tomatoes for smoother acid. I was like you I drink half a jar of pickle juice plus half an half creamer. I’m not getting a lot of peps off this month because of the rain but what I do have PACKS A PUNCH 🥊.
muttons_1337
Well, at least you had the forethought to try only a piece and not chuck the whole thing down your gob. No shame in trying!
Naisu_boato
were you in the slightest idea aware how hot these peppers were or did you just “do it for the lulz”?
