A paper towel with some spray oil on it.

Cardboard, newspaper, paper egg cartons are the best. I wouldn’t spend a dime on a specialized starter like this.
If you want the paper to burn a little hotter and faster, put a little vegetable oil on it (used frying oil works also)

I usually do the paper towels and oil trick but it’s nice to have the Weber wax cubes on hand for easy starting.

For the grill, I only ever use paper grocery bags. For any other fire, I usually use fatwood in combination with other kindling.

Found five boxes of the Weber wax cubes at a local greenhouse/garden supply store on clearance. I bought them out. I tried using paper rolled up and others but they sometimes wouldn’t stay lit and was very disappointing when I came out to no hot coals one time. Wax cubes are dependable, no odor either.

I use the Weber cubes. They’re the best. I’ve tried the ones you’re using now. They do not compare.

Usually I tear a piece off the charcoal bag. I always assumed that’s why they’re double layered with regular brown paper on the inside, that and extra protection.
