A couple weeks ago I was browsing Facebook Marketplace and came across a Weber Genesis 1000 LX for $50. I thought it was a good deal and was able to pick it up. "Lori" was very emotionally attached to the grill as she bought the same model as her dad and brother at the same time in roughly 1996. I was able to convince her that I would take good care of it and that I was going to do a full rehab on it and would send her pictures. It came with the original manual and cookbook as well as a fully functioning rotisserie. The guts all appeared to be working. I spent a few weeks stripping the paint, sanding everything, and replacing the composite slats with some Cumaru that I snagged from a coworker for free that was cut down to a size I can work with. All in all I put about four hundred in it. Most of the costs were upgrading the flavorizer bar to stainless steel, buying a new lp tank scale, and buying the warming rack and warming basket (still on its way). Should last another 28 years. What are everyone's thoughts? "Lori" was very impressed!
