These are picked way too early, shiny avocado is an unripe avacado

  2. JerryTexas52

We had one of that kind once. Inedible. Had to get s refund from the store.

Don’t these have different uses? I may be wrong but I don’t think you’re supposed to use them like regular avocados. Either way I also thought they were gross.

  4. Theonethatgotherway

Ok yes, but my partner is Brazilian and showed me how to eat these. They are actually meant to be eaten with sugar. I still hate them, but yeah

  5. EatMoreSleepMore

You’re using them wrong if you’re using them like standard haas avocados.

I had one of these in Cuba. It was def mealy, but tasted ok spread on some bread.

  8. RoaringMamaBear

That’s the type grown in Puerto Rico. Hass is superior.

  9. Unusual_Silver_5883

Indian grandparents turned into milkshakes with sugar. Preferred savory.

  10. cosmiczinger

They are mild and not like other types of avocado

    OH HELL NO!

I am Puertorrican and these are the best with white rice and beans.

GTFO with your bullshit. Don’t like em so they’re garbage? Nah you tried to eat it like the other ones.

Something’s not garbage just because you don’t know how to prepare it.

I had one thinking it would be good on a sandwich. It tasted almost like a mango ! Not for me

  14. LibraPugLove

First one i tried was like that, was probably under ripe, got one yesterday that was yellow and juicy like a mango. Had a small mexican avocado to compare beside it, this was definitely fruitier and sweeter. Different , but good

I’m from Miami and these slap, but TBF I’ve only had them tree ripened from friends/coworkers who practically beg you to take them.

I’ve found tropical produce here underwhelming in general so I don’t bother, maybe if I was using them for a recipe or smth

  16. Flipflopforager

They need to mature, but yah different than Haas.

17 years ago we moved here from Miami and my wife sent me out to buy avocados. I was looking for these, the only kind of avocado I had ever seen. After a long time looking, I asked a clerk who told me I was standing right next to the avocados, which turned out to be tiny brown things that look nothing like what I was used to.

We got used to Haas, but still miss these. I guess HEB finally has some?

  18. King_Slappa

I’ve almost bought these a few times but wasn’t sure what to expect. If they’re on the sweeter side, I wouldn’t mind mixing with a little salt and peppers along with some other type of side like rice and beans, as others have noted. I’ll have to try now

You, my friend, are the one who is watery hot garbage.

This post was probably created by white person that doesn’t know how to distinguish between Mexican avocados and Caribbean avocados. Mexican avocados are mid tbh. Caribbean avocados is where is at

  21. This sub has run out of restaurants to complain about and is now bitching about produce at HEB.

Those grow in south Florida. Growing up there we always called them Florida avocados vs haas
Floridians aren’t fans of them either

  23. CafeConChangos

These avocados are great as a Vietnamese smoothie. Just blend whole milk, condensed milk and ice along with the avocado until you get a smooth consistency.
