Just picked 7 pounds of jalapeños (an entire grocery bag full). Suggestions on what to use them for are welcome!

  1. Jalapeno poppers & Cowboy candy. On canning sub I saw someone made a jalapeno jelly.

I just jarred about 5lbs of jalapeño slices and made 2 throw-pillow sized Ziploc bags of the rest. My harvest is only about 1/4 done!

Cut some in half, length-wise and make poppers with your favorite stuffing, or wrap in bacon!

    The possibilities are endless!

    Green Tomato and Jalapeno Jam

    4 jalapenos, sliced
½ cup herbs such as mint and cilantro, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, chopped
    1 inch piece ginger, chopped
    ½ cup cider vinegar
    2 tbsp soy sauce
1 lb green tomatoes, peeled and chopped
    3 cup sugar

    1) Puree the jalapenos, herbs, garlic, ginger vinegar and soy sauce in a food processor.
    2) Place the mixture into a sauce pan and add the tomatoes and sugar.
    3) Bring to a boil and simmer until it thickens, about 45 minutes.

Man I go through so many jalapeños! I cut ’em up in my eggs, I make salsa, I roast them and put them on burgers, I slice them as a pizza topping, and I even add them to sauces like chimichurri. You can use them in hot sauce, you can make a fermented pepper relish, some pepper jelly, or pickled peppers. The options are endless!

Wash, slice into rings. Place on parchment lined baking sheets in a single layer. Freeze.

Once frozen, scoop them into a container or freezer bag. They’re great to reach in and throw on top of a pizza before baking, on top of burgers, thaw some and add to nachos, tacos, burgers, thaw and dice into cream cheese for bagels… you get the idea 😂

    Edit: spelling

Freeze them. I still have plenty of last years crop. They were spicier than normal jalapeños so naturally I had to keep them.

If you have a smoker, you could make chipotles.

If you don’t have a plan for them, why not let them ripen to red?

Time to dry them over a cold wood smoke and make.chipotle.

Jalapeño jelly is always a big hit with my friends

Pickle them with a sprig of oregano and a clove of garlic in each jar. Great on tacos, eggs, chili, whatever.

Pickled jalapeños are easy and the best especially for nachos and sandwiches. Use pickle crisp when canning.

Make a whole bunch of jam and share it with family and friends. It’s delicious

I roast them then bag in the same number I would use to make salsa, throw them in the freezer. No waste and now salsa making just got easier

I chop them up and freeze them. Then I have them handy whenever I cook a frozen pizza, eggs, or whatever.

Bonus points because my skin is super sensitive to peppers, so I normally have to glove up to prep peppers, and I’m too lazy to do that to chop just a small amount for a frozen pizza or something. Having them pre-prepped means I use a whole lot more of them.

Stuff with cream cheese and bacon bits, wrap completely with bacon slices and roast them on the grill till crispy brown, cool, freeze. Eat as many as you like later

I fully agree with the folks that already said to smoke them to make chipotles. It will be an amazing addition to any rub.

  20. FliP-Sauce

Pickel em, make sauce, stuff em with cheese, just eat them raw. The possibilities are endless!! Nice haul!

I planted an only pepper garden, going to make hot sauces for holiday gifts

They are very freezeable, especially sliced or diced, to use later in soups or chili.

I’d pickle some fur sure, it’s a fridge essential for me. Next time you have people over, make some bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños.

Make chili. (green chili) not con carne.
