what does this mean, if anything? I have not grown this variety before

Those look like Chocolate Cherry toms. I’m growing several of those. I tend to see those spots on my experimental plants that are buried directly in the soil (clay’ish, Zone 7B, USA.) It seems like a nutrient deficiency of some sort, I ate many of them that look like this and it’s fine.
P.S. The ones I’m growing in containers don’t seem to have this problem, AND the fruits are much bigger and tastier. I have to admit that I take care of my fabric grow bag plants way better than stuff I toss in plain ole soil so….

The tomatos that grew on my plant afflicted with septoria leaf spot were like that. If your plant is healthy, I wouldn’t worry.
