We’ve noticed that recent changes in Reddit’s algorithms have made it harder for original content (OC) communities like ours to get the visibility we used to enjoy. This shift means that posts and comments aren’t getting the attention they deserve.
By voting on and commenting on posts, you’re not only helping others but also boosting the visibility of your own posts. Your engagement is crucial, not just for r/PelletGrills, but for all the wonderful niche communities like food, crafts, art, and culture that thrive on original content. Even a simple comment like “This would fit X sub” can make a big difference.
Together, we can support and uplift our entire community. Let’s keep the positive vibes and delicious smoked meat content flowing!

I get that it might be for “more smoke” but it looks like something you dont want to touch, would be easy to touch accidentally, and is wasting grill space.

If anything you want the top of the stack to be taller so it pulls stronger and more efficiently

People think that chimneys that start at the top of the barrel allow the smoke to escape quicker but they don’t realize the smoke has traveled already from one end of the barrel to the other and if you alter where the stack comes in you’re very likely changing the air flow into ways that it was not designed. It could actually make the cooker less efficient, let alone reduce your actual usable cooking space.

Unless you perfectly seal everything this shouldn’t have any effect except to increase smoke escape in other unsealed areas. Like the grease hole and lid.
My smoker has an ash dump and sometimes I see smoke escape out of that area as well. Adding more smoke is really the only way to achieve what this “mod” attempts.
