Small onions with a unique flavor.
Plenty of great recipes favors them over other onions.
Don’t discriminate and always pick the right onion for the recipe you are going for.

I’ve only used them in recipes that call for them, but never thought about using them outside of that. Are they good in sandwiches and stuff? Or do they have to be cooked?

Bury me with them so i can take them to the afterlife

They’re great! I want a shallot x wild ramp hybrid. Really, why are there no wild ramp hybrids on the market?

Literally eating them in a salad right now

Shallots can be used in so many different recipes where an onion might be overkill (to those of us not on this sub of course).

Pan fried until just crispy as a topper for pho.

I’ve only had them a few times, but I like ’em. They’re like the light beer of onions. I prefer the stronger stuff, but I won’t say no if they’re there.

Essential! A white onion, shallots, crushed garlic, and mushrooms roasting in duck fat! Just smell it, get a good waft!

I love shallots and would marry them if they’d accept.

I appreciate the way they’re chopped on this counter that’s for sure

An onion is an onion… all onions have their place. I only use shallots in specific recipes same as green onions and red onions, I typically use yellow in 99% of what I make.. cheap and oniony

I think I have a garlic intolerance and I find shallots are a good substitute flavor-wise

I can’t make steak without shallots now, I use them as part of a pan sauce and I don’t plan on turning back

So I tried them once in a bean salad recipe I found online. This was a year ago and I’ve not touched them since because they were really intense in flavor and smell. It actually gave me a headache for about 8 hours (I have hyperosmia)

Is there a special method to prepare them? Maybe without the core? Or did I just get bad one? Or maybe I should just stick with onions.

Spectacular, give me 14 of them right now
