In this video Ash shows a full tutorial on how to make the BEST homemade custard ice cream from scratch! You can do this with any store bought heavy cream and whole milk!
Homemade Custard Ice cream
Ingredients:
-3 cups heavy cream (divided)
-1 cup whole milk
-6 egg yolks
-3/4 cup sugar (Or honey/maple sugar/etc)
-1/4 tsp almond extract or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
dash of salt
Proceed as the video shows.
Notes: You can add all the cream together at the beginning when making the custard or wait to add it raw once you pour the custard into the machine. Either works!
I love to scrape a vanilla bean into the custard after it cooks. Include any add ins you would like just wait until the end when the ice cream is almost fully formed before adding in some additional ingredients like sprinkles, peanut butter, caramel, chocolate, etc.

❤ I make ice cream with half n half. I use the whole egg (very rich flavor), home made vanilla extract, and leave it in a pitcher over night in the refrigerator before putting into machine. I made basil, mint, strawberry – so yummy!
❤ I find having the machine on for 25 minutes before I add chocolate chunks, strawberry pieces, etc. while it’s running is a great way to mix in pieces. I leave it on 5 minutes after putting the pieces in for a total of 30-35 minutes running. I put it in glass dishes in the freezer for at least an hour before serving.
Its the best. Been making our for 5 years now.
