I am trying to cut costs and improvised this. It's just 2 potatoes and 3 hot dogs chopped up, parfried and seasoned in a pan. Recommendations for making it better next time? It was tasty but I think it was missing something.

    Parsley for the potatoes, perhaps?

Onion, if it is your thing. Cheap and tasty. You could also just add some beans for protein. Hot dogs and beans were a staple in my house growing up (middle class)

    Looks good,
Add fresh herbs. You can grow those on window sill or patio.
Saute Sliced onions, top with over easy egg or sliced avacados,
saute cabbage or kale or any cheap vegetables fresh or from freezer section

This + onion and bell pepper was a staple dinner growing up. With ketchup, and sometimes salad on the side for health

The holy Trinity: onions, carrots, celery.

It’ll taste better and you definitely need some veggies in your diet.

Add chopped green onions to your meal after you are done cooking. Even if you have regular onions cooked in the meal. Green onions have different flavor altogether, also you can add sour cream. You would have almost a baked potato with sour cream and chives

I’m eating potatoes and sausage right now! 🙂

Got the sausage (Cajun) from my local food bank and I dumpster dove 4 bags of hash browns today. Yum!

Simple foods are the best foods. Usually they are the least processed too. Of course, sometimes you just need to eat a hot dog like you’ve got there!

I love a dish like this. Sausage or spam or hot dogs and potatoes or rice. Here are some things you can add depending on your tastes. A can of beans, some veggies like onions or broccoli or tomatoes, just items to add flavoring or texture. And of course there are spices and sauces to kico it off.

Looks great, you did a great job cooking.

This is my dinner tonight— with a mix of sliced zucchini, chopped onions and diced tomatoes on the side.
