I thought they had stopped including that in the directions after there were lots of similar concepts. I’ve seen “saute until browned” recently.

Yeah. HF doesn’t understand carmelization. They mean “sauté” or “brown”. The one tsp of sugar is not going to magically make this happen.
It’s a long process
I take the Hello Fresh meal times to be a guide only. Often its 15 to 20 mins longer than their ‘Qualifying race times’

Put a little bit of baking soda in with the onions to caramelize them faster.
