I just ate one that looked ready off of the plant expecting it to be mild and sweet but it WASNT!!!! It also didn't taste like a banana pepper but more like a very boring bell pepper. This thing was unbelievably spicy. If it is a banana pepper, is the reason why it is so spicy possibly because it is close by to my ghost and habenero plants?.

It definitely looks like one, but the fact that it’s really spicy is kinda weird. Banana peppers are barely spicy, atleast in scoville units. Being close to spicier peppers wouldn’t affect that one unless they crossbred by themselves, but then the pepper would look different, I’m pretty sure. So it’s most likely not a banana pepper.
But I’ve never grown banana peppers so I can’t be sure.
Hungarian hot wax maybe?
