My girlfriend bought this at Trader Joe’s and I wanted to use the pellet to cook it. She says it’ll taste “smokey” and it’s made for the oven. 2 1/2 pounds. Am I stuck cooking inside tonight?

yes you are stuck cooking inside tonight

  2. Turn it up to 325-350 and use it as an oven. You will get very little (if any) smoke flavor.

Pellet grill is always better than oven imo. Shouldn’t get too smokey if you use grilling temps 325-375

Sure it can. You are using a pellet pooper so cook it at 350 and the pellets will be used for heat and very little smoke should be absorbed by the meat.

But happy wife makes happy life so I would highly recommend cooking in oven.

I’ve made this in my recteq, 350 degrees won’t be too smoky at all but I’ve never been able to make this juicy and skin crispy so I gave up on it. Flavor is good though.

I deal with this a lot. Cook outside, kiss it with smoke, wrap it super early, and save the fight for some other dumb thing.

If the GF says it’s made for the oven … you’re cooking inside unless you want to watch the Rams game by yourself.

If you cook it on the grill above 350 you won’t be able to notice much smoke but she will think it’s been over smoked.
